Flourishing at School is a cloud based software platform for schools who want to excel at whole school wellbeing. The term “flourishing” denotes a high level of wellbeing characterised by positive emotions, engagement (or flow), positive relationships, meaningfulness and accomplishment.
Importantly, Flourishing at School cannot be used to diagnose or treat mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Rather it is designed to assist schools work with students to help them remain mentally healthy and optimise their wellbeing.
Given that about half of all people who develop a mental disorder in their lifetime have their first experience before the age of 14, and 75% before the age of 25, the school years are an ideal time for young people to develop knowledge and skills to prevent mental illness and to flourish.
What information will the school receive?
With their subscription to Flourishing at School, your school will be able to collect information from students regarding the development of positive mental health pillars as well as top character strengths. The school will receive aggregate data of how the wellbeing of their students compares to students at other schools. Your child’s results on the positive mental health survey scales will also be reported at the individual level (you can view what information is collected and how it is reported here). The information collected can be highly beneficial in determining future school interventions to optimise student wellbeing and to guide positive wellbeing conversations between staff and your child.
Student feedback
Your child will receive feedback appropriate for their age in their Flourishing at School account immediately after completing surveys. This is focused on their top contributors to wellbeing (not ill health).
Following completion of surveys your child will be encouraged to set a wellbeing goal to focus on over the upcoming period. This is designed to increase the level of ownership over his or her own wellbeing.
Who else will be able to view my child’s data?
People Diagnostix is the owner of Flourishing at School and has the ability to access information for the purpose of providing the Flourishing at School service. People Diagnostix is a company located in Perth, Western Australia. As it is headed by psychologists it is bound to treat information it collects in line with the Privacy Act (1988) (Cth) and the Code of Ethics of the Psychology Board of Australia. It also maintains and Information Security Management System (ISMS) compliant with ISO27001:2013, and manages user data in line with the most stringent data privacy regulations including GDPR.
